This just in: Bitchin' Goblin Shark Steals the Show at Local Opera House; Several Patrons Eaten Alive. Cognoscenti Point Fingers at New Wave Opera.

My review of the world premiere of Portland composer and librettist Caroline Louise Miller's first full-length opera, Deep Water, is up at Oregon ArtsWatch.  A meditation on climate grief and queer love at the end of the world, this thought-provoking and beautiful piece is exactly the kind of cutting-edge stuff I've come to expect from New Wave Opera.  And there's a Goblin Shark.
